Verified material recovery · India

Waste that can prove where it's been.

வளம், கழிவல்ல.

Suzhi buys dry waste where it already piles up, in the towns and small cities the big players skip. We sort it to factory grade and sell it to recyclers with an audit trail no one else can offer: every kilo weighed, photographed, geotagged and signed at the moment it changes hands.

Why now

The law is creating a shortage of exactly what we can supply.

Brands must now buy recycled plastic and prove where it came from. Factories are short of consistent, sorted, invoiced material. Meanwhile most of India's scrap flows through cash trades with no paperwork, so its value leaks to middlemen and its proof is lost.

30→60%

Mandatory recycled content

Rigid plastic packaging must contain recycled plastic. The requirement rises every year to 60% by 2028-29.

PWM Amendment Rules, 2022

50-100%

Premium for single-grade material

Colour- and polymer-sorted bales sell for up to double the price of mixed scrap. Documentation adds another layer on top.

Lakhs

Fake recycling certificates found

Government audits found lakhs (hundreds of thousands) of fake EPR certificates. Verified supply is now the scarcest thing in the industry.

The model

One loop, run with discipline.

No processing. Suzhi does not melt, wash or pelletise anything. We buy, sort, bale and sell, and we do each step to a standard the trade has never written down.

  1. Buy

    At the scale

From scrap dealers, waste-picker groups and municipal collection sheds. Paid digitally, every kilo logged as it is weighed.

  2. Sort

    To factory spec

By polymer and colour: PET clear, PET green, HDPE natural, PP, film. Dry, clean and consistent.

  3. Bale

    Dense and graded

Bales that ship economically and command real prices. Loose sacks do neither.

  4. Sell

    By the truckload

GST-invoiced consignments to registered recyclers and brand supply chains. Two buyers minimum, so no single buyer controls us.

  5. Prove

    On the ledger

Town, date, weight, photo, signature. The audit trail brands pay for, attached to the bale it describes.

Differentiation

Three premiums stacked on the same kilo.

The material is the same PET bottle the kabadiwala already handles. What changes is what we can say about it, and each thing we can say is worth money to someone.

One kilo of PETsolid = now · dashed = year 2

GradeSorting discipline

Colour- and polymer-sorted bales at consistent quality. The trade's own sorting knowledge (which bottle goes in which sack, what a factory rejects) written down and followed the same way every day.

ProofThe record

Every purchase geotagged, weighed, photographed and paid digitally. EPR paperwork that stands up to audit, kept from the first kilo instead of put together at audit time.

CertificationCoastal, year 2

Ocean-Bound Plastic certified collection and fishing-net recovery on the coast. A premium category with almost no certified collectors in India.

Proof

A record that holds up years later, without trusting us.

Paperwork can be faked. That is the whole problem. Suzhi's record is built so that no one, including Suzhi, can quietly change it after the fact, and so that anyone can check it without asking permission.

Tamper-evident by design. Photo, weight, location and time are hashed together on the device and signed once a day. A record can be lost. It cannot be changed without the signature failing. Every receipt is a standard file you can check with public tools.

Verify

Check a Suzhi ID against the public ledger.

Every bale and every consignment Suzhi sells carries an ID. Paste it here and the ledger at api.suzhi.earth re-verifies the record and tells you what it knows.

IDs look like suzhi-{device}-{yyyymmdd}-{seq}. Batches answer with their Merkle root and signatures. Consignments answer with end fate and retirement status.

Who it's for

The factories are our customers, not our competitors.

National players fight over metro volume and processing capacity. None of them can run a purchase network in the thousands of towns where the material actually is. Their plants need what those towns throw away.

Recyclers & brands

Sorted, invoiced, documented material.

Truckload lots of single-grade bales with GST invoices and a record per kilo that survives an EPR audit, from a supplier you can visit.

Scrap dealers & waste pickers

A steady buyer who pays on the spot.

Digital payment at the scale, a fair rate sheet, and a pickup you can count on. Every kilo you sell is credited to you on the ledger.

Credit buyers & auditors

Evidence, not a spreadsheet.

Records that satisfy plastic-credit, ocean-bound and avoided-burning methodologies from the same raw capture. Checkable by anyone, years later.

The vision

Make proof the default for every recovered kilo.

Suzhi's ambition is not to be the biggest scrap dealer. It is for the record to become the product, so that a kilo recovered in any town can show where it came from, who handled it and where it ended up, to anyone who asks.

Now

One district first

Buy, sort, bale, sell, with proof from the first kilo. A purchase network, a sorting shed, two repeat buyers. Prove the unit economics before adding anything.

Next

Certified streams

EPR credit revenue switched on. Coastal and riverside collection certified as ocean-bound. First brand relationships for documented, single-grade material.

Then

The proof layer

Repeat the district playbook with the same app and the same standard, and open the ledger to other collectors, so verifiable recovery stops being a Suzhi feature and becomes the norm.

Questions

Plain answers to the questions we get asked.

If your question is not here, email hello@suzhi.earth and we will answer it directly.

What is Suzhi?

Suzhi is a material recovery company based in Tamil Nadu, India. It buys dry recyclable waste such as PET, HDPE, PP, cardboard and metal, sorts it to factory grade, bales it, and sells it to registered recyclers. Every kilo is recorded on a tamper-evident ledger, so buyers get proof of where the material came from.

What does Suzhi buy, and from whom?

Dry, clean recyclables: PET and HDPE bottles, PP, cardboard, paper and metal, with plastic film taken as a ride-along. Suzhi buys from scrap dealers, waste-picker groups and municipal collection sheds, and pays digitally at the scale.

Who buys from Suzhi?

Registered plastic recyclers and brand supply chains that need sorted, GST-invoiced, documented material to meet India's recycled-content and EPR rules.

Does Suzhi process plastic?

No. Suzhi does not wash, shred, melt or pelletise anything. It buys, sorts, bales and sells. Processing stays with the recyclers who already do it well.

How does the proof work?

Each pickup is recorded with weight, photo, GPS and time, and hashed on the phone. Each day's records are combined into one Merkle root, which the device signs with Ed25519 and with SLH-DSA, a post-quantum signature. The server then timestamps the root on Bitcoin through OpenTimestamps and logs it in the Sigstore Rekor transparency log. Anyone can check a record on this page, or download the receipt and check it with standard tools, without asking Suzhi.

Why Bitcoin and Rekor, not a blockchain of our own?

Both are free, public, and run by people who are not Suzhi. OpenTimestamps puts a hash of each record into a Bitcoin block, so its existence is proven by the most durable public ledger there is. Rekor is a transparency log run by the Linux Foundation's Sigstore project, and it records within seconds which key logged what. Together they cover long-term durability and same-day checking, with no token and no wallet.

What is a Suzhi ID, and how do I verify one?

Every batch and consignment carries an ID in the form suzhi-{device}-{yyyymmdd}-{seq}. Paste it into the verify box on this page. The ledger at api.suzhi.earth re-checks the signatures and returns the Merkle root, the pickup count, the Bitcoin timestamp and the Rekor log entry.

Which standards does the record support?

One raw record is designed to satisfy India's EPR rules under the Plastic Waste Management Rules, Verra's plastic waste methodology (PWRM0001), PCX plastic credits, Ocean-Bound Plastic certification, and avoided-open-burning carbon methodologies.

Where does Suzhi operate?

Suzhi is based in Tamil Nadu, India, and starts with one district hub. The model is built to repeat district by district with the same app and the same standard.
